STL Research selects British bearing specialist for Neptune prototype

STL Research have selected the specialist bearing manufacturer Criptic-Arvis Limited to supply the main bearing housings and shafts for the prototype Neptune offshore access system. The bespoke housings are machined from structural steel and corrosion protection is provided by a special paint finish. As Neptune will be used in extreme environments, special seals have been incorporated into the bearing housings to prevent water ingress. The bearing liners are manufactured by Deva GmbH and have been chosen to give a long life under arduous conditions.

Arvis are based in Leicester and previously supplied the bearings for the 1/8th scale Neptune demonstrator.
